The state of New York has a PIRP (Point & Insurance Reduction Program), for the purposes of:
- Refreshing your driving knowledge
- Reducing points on your driving record
- Reducing insurance rates
In 2006, a provision in New York state law established the “IPIRP” program, which is a 5-year pilot that will enable New York drivers to take their accident prevention course on the web. The question of whether cell phone use while driving is really dangerous keeps popping up again and again. It would seem obvious that operating a cell phone while driving would probably create a traffic safety hazard, while texting should not be done at all when a person is driving.
