Beginning June 30, 2009, driving in Florida without wearing a seatbelt will
be a primary offense. Currently, F.S. 316.614(8) considers failure to wear a
seat belt a secondary offense. The new bill S344 makes the offense a primary

We are fairly certain that the city of Lakeland, Florida will soon be handing out more traffic tickets to drivers, as new cameras are being installed on several local traffic signals to catch red light runners.  The cameras, which are part of a “red light camera project,” should be active in June, 2009, according to Assistant Chief Bill LePere of the Lakeland Police Department. Mark Lindsay, driving his motorcycle on U.S. 27 with passenger MacKenzie Chartrand at speeds over 110 mph, lost control and crashed, killing himself and his passenger on August 21st of last year.  Lindsay, who had racked up multiple Florida speeding tickets in the past, was driving on a suspended license.  His license had been suspended a total of eight times.
